Doesn't matter much...

It's a sort of bloom on a woman. If you have it, you don't need to have anything else; and if you don't have it, it doesn't much matter what else you have. ~James Matthew Barrie, What Every Woman Knows, about charm

  1. I like it. I also prefer the facial expression here.

  2. I am a color person so I prefer the color version. I love the shine of the gold. It really came through in the picture which doesn't always happen. Did you take a photo or scan the picture? It's a gorgeous rendition of the drawing. India has beautiful cloths which of course turn into beautiful saris.

  3. You did a beautiful job with the color here! Maybe it's my imagination but the dress seems silky and the necklace like gold. Very well done. Beautiful portrait!

  4. I also prefer the color version! Fantastic detail, and I'm wondering how you did the leaves on her sari?
    Is that a wax resist?

  7. Color has it for me... of course, to do a study in graphite helps with identifying good design, shadows, light areas, really seeing your subject, etc. So doing both has resulted in this very lovely portrait. Well done Aarti

  12. Aarti - I guess it's a matter of taste, but I like the colour version. Very nice colours. Some 'highlights' / reflected light in the hair would be good bring it further to life - I do like the eyes!

  14. Very nice coloring! With very effective lighting effects on
the dress material, and jewelry, while the coordinating pink lips and sparkle
in the eyes brings out the face. This is
    my preference.

  19. Hi Aarti,
I went and looked at your woman. She is beautiful in color also. Both are amazing! What kind of paint did you use for the gold on the sari and the copper necklace?
